A personal statement is an opportunity for you to support or enhance your application. It is your chance to tell us about the experiences that shaped who you are today and how your experience at Huron can launch your future. Outline how you can continue to be a role model and mentor and how you can give back to your community to build a better future. Through Huron’s holistic approach to admissions, we review supplemental information and admit students based on a variety of contributing factors, not just their academic transcript. Mature Students:
Applicants who do not meet the minimum academic requirements for admission to the university may be eligible for consideration as a mature student. Qualifying applicants must meet the following conditions:
Mature Student applicants will need to submit a formal application to the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) as well as complete the Mature Student Profile for consideration.
Returning Students:
Students who have taken a leave from Huron and wish to return to their studies, provided they remained in good academic standing, may contact Academic Advising to request reactivation of their registration. If you have attended another post-secondary institution since your time at Huron, you may be required to submit a formal application to the Admissions Office.
Applicants seeking readmission to Huron following withdrawal for unsatisfactory academic standing will need to complete a regular application through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre. In addition to the formal application, applicants will need to submit their completed Reconsideration of Admission form.
If granted readmission, you may register for a session that commences no earlier than one calendar year (12 months) from the time of withdrawal.

English Language Proficiency
If you have not studied for a minimum of four years (including the final year) in an institution where the language of instruction is English, you are required to submit a satisfactory English Language Proficiency test score. Huron requires one of the following:
IELTS
Minimum overall score: 6.5
No section less than: 6.0
TOEFL (iBT) and Home Edition
Minimum overall score: 83
No section less than: 20
CAEL
Minimum overall score: 60
No section less than: 60
PTE ACADEMIC
Minimum overall score: 58

Students who do not meet Huron’s English language requirement but are academically admissible will automatically be admitted into an Academic English program.
Programs include:
THE ENGLISH BOOST PROGRAM
Students who qualify take ESL in July and August before starting full-time at Huron in September.
ACADEMIC ENGLISH PROGRAM
After successful completion of the High Advanced Level, students begin full-time studies at Huron. The length of program is dependent on English language proficiency.
Students who successfully complete level 10 of Fanshawe College’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program will satisfy the English language proficiency requirement.

APPLICATIONS OPEN LATE SEPTEMBER
Go to the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) website at ouac.on.ca. You will find Huron within the Western University campus choices. Although program interest can be added to your application, Huron admits students to a general first year in one of the program areas below. You only need to submit one application per choice.

Is Huron the only university you’re applying to in Ontario?
You may be eligible to apply using Huron’s Internal Application. Do not use this application if you have already applied using the OUAC website.
Applicants applying for January term should also use the Internal Application to apply to Huron.

Kelly Meighen is an experienced philanthropist and volunteer. In her role as president of the T.R. Meighen Family Foundation, she has created a legacy of volunteerism and philanthropic giving in the areas of youth mental health advocacy, environmental conservation and cultural vibrancy.
Ranjita is Executive Chair of the Oxford Global Partnership, advising investors, businesses, family offices and entrepreneurs on sustainable, inclusive and responsible value creation. A Business Fellow at Oxford University’s Smith School, Ranjita engages with companies on pursuing value with values, and teaches a postgraduate “Essentials of ESG & DEI” course.
