General Requirements

If you are studying at a Saskatchewan high school, you will need to complete the following for admission:

  • A complete High School Diploma, including:
  • English A30 and B30
  • Four additional academic grade 12 courses
  • Required courses for your program.

English Language Proficiency

If you have not studied for a minimum of four years (including the final year) in an institution where the language of instruction is English, you are required to submit a satisfactory English Language Proficiency test score. Huron requires one of the following:

IELTS

Minimum overall score: 6.5

No section less than: 6.0

TOEFL (tests taken on or after January 21, 2026)

Minimum overall score: 4.5

Minimum score in reading, speaking and writing: 4.0

Minimum score in listening: 4.5

CAEL

Minimum overall score: 60

No section less than: 60

TOEFL (tests taken before January 21, 2026)

Minimum overall score: 83

No section less than: 20

Cambridge English Test

C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency

Minimum overall score: 176

No section less than: 169

DUOLINGO

Minimum overall score: 115

No section less than: 100

PTE ACADEMIC

Minimum overall score: 58

No section less than: 56

Applicants who do not meet Huron’s English language requirement but are academically admissible will automatically be admitted to one of the Academic English pathway programs below:

WELC ENGLISH BOOST PROGRAM

Applicants will take ESL courses throughout July and August prior to starting full-time at Huron in September.

ILAC PATHWAY PROGRAM

The length of program is dependent on English language proficiency. Applicants will take ESL courses for 4-12 months starting full-time at Huron in September.

Applicants who successfully complete level 10 of Fanshawe College’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program will satisfy the English language proficiency requirement.
