The history and culture of the Jewish people extend across more than three millennia, from biblical times to the present, and spans most of the world, including the Middle East, Central Asia, North Africa, Europe, and North and South America. A degree in Jewish Studies allows for the deep exploration of the diversity of Jewish culture across time and space as well as an understanding of Jewish religious practices, Jewish thought, and an introduction to Hebrew.

Beyond the Classroom

The Auschwitz Jewish Center Fellows Program offers senior students a unique educational opportunity to learn about the Holocaust in the context of Poland’s history and Jewish heritage. This summer fellowship includes travel in Poland for three weeks, during which time students visit Krakow, Warsaw, Lód´z, Treblinka and O´swięcim (Auschwitz). There are also opportunities for study abroad exchanges in Israel, the United States, Europe, and beyond.

Jewish Studies Professors

As a collaborative and interdisciplinary program, Jewish Studies offers students unique access to several different personalities and areas of expertise, as they are given the opportunity to study under professors from each of the affiliate colleges and Western University. However, as our students call Huron home, they can trust they will always receive individualized support from experts in this field who are excited about guiding their students to a greater understanding of Jewish linguistics, culture and history.
