Technology Available for Loan
In addition to our desktop workstations, Huron Library also offers a variety of loanable technology.
Borrowing
Technology lending is available for active students, faculty, and staff of Huron, Western, or King’s.
- Borrowers are liable for any damage, theft, or loss of technology.
- Fines are applied to technology equipment:
- $2/hr for hourly loans
- $2/day for short term loans (ex. 1-day or 3-day).
- $15/day for Microsoft Surface Pro’s
Users may load apps and content on the Library’s devices using their own accounts. Please be advised that when the Library’s devices are returned, all data and settings are wiped. The Library assumes no responsibility for any problems caused by connecting the Library’s loanable technology to any other equipment.
Use of the Library’s loanable technology falls under the Computer and Internet Acceptable Use Policy. For more information on privacy and security policies please visit the Western University Information Security website.

Same-Day Loan:
- Microsoft Surface Pro 9 – Huron Library offers Microsoft Surface Pro 9’s available for our students and faculty. Our Surfaces’ include the TypeCover and a Surface Pen may be requested. We tailor the software to our students needs – currently we have the complete Microsoft Office Suite, Inkscape, GIMP, Notepad++, DIA, OpenShot, OBS (Open Broadcasting Software), Scribus, and Audacity installed to help students with any project they might be working on. Enjoy the freedom and new digital interactions the Surface Pro 4 offers. Please Note: If a Surface is shutdown it will wipe all data created by the user, so please make sure to save to your student OneDrive, other cloud storage, or a USB.
- Blue Yeti USB Microphone – The Blue Yeti Mic is a great choice for your recording needs. Easy plug-and-play feature for MAC and PC, the Yeti allows you to focus on your work instead of setup. Perfect for podcasting and group recordings, this mic has four different recording modes: omnidirectional, cardioid, bidirectional, and stereo. If you have any questions at all, or need help with setup, please ask one of our staff for help!
- Headphones – We have many over-ear headsets on-hand. Whether you forgot your own or plan to use them at one of our workstations or with our Microsoft Surface Pros’s, we’ve got you covered.
3-Day Loan:
- Muse Meditation Headband – The Muse Meditation Headband is a multi-sensor meditation device that the user wears while it interacts with the Muse App allowing the user to go through guided meditation and tracking real-time feedback on brain activity, heart rate, breathing, and body movements.
- Verilux HappyLight Therapy Energy Lamp – A full spectrum/natural spectrum, 10,000 lux therapy lamp, the Verilux HappyLight is meant to mimic sunlight and help with those times where you need a boost. It is meant to lift your mood, increase your energy, and improve your sleep to enhance your happiness and well-being.

Kelly Meighen is an experienced philanthropist and volunteer. In her role as president of the T.R. Meighen Family Foundation, she has created a legacy of volunteerism and philanthropic giving in the areas of youth mental health advocacy, environmental conservation and cultural vibrancy.
Ranjita is Executive Chair of the Oxford Global Partnership, advising investors, businesses, family offices and entrepreneurs on sustainable, inclusive and responsible value creation. A Business Fellow at Oxford University’s Smith School, Ranjita engages with companies on pursuing value with values, and teaches a postgraduate “Essentials of ESG & DEI” course.
Caleb Hayhoe is the Founder & Chairman of Flowerdale Group and a Huron Class of ’85 Alumnus.
