Coordinator, Licentiate in Theology
The Reverend Christopher (Chris) Travers is a seasoned pastor and theological parish educator whose vocational life has been dedicated to forming “Leaders with Heart.” With a background spanning parish ministry, diocesan programming, and immersive chaplaincy at Camp Huron, Chris brings a synthesis of spiritual depth, pastoral wisdom, and administrative care to the Licentiate in Theology Team.
Holding both a Bachelor of Theology and a Master of Divinity, Chris spent years walking alongside individuals during life’s most pivotal moments of inquiry, growth, and commitment. His frontline experiences as a parish priest and a Chaplain at Camp Huron provide an intimate, practical understanding of the vocational pathways and community supports that theological students navigate today.
Community engagement, proclamation, teaching, and invitation lie at the heart of Chris’ calling. A compelling preacher and presenter, Chris has represented institutions at conferences, synods, and diocesan events, demonstrating an ability to connect with diverse audiences and articulate a vision of Christ-centred leadership. This skill set aligns with the religious landscape that the Licentiate in Theology program seeks to serve. His administrative acumen was shaped by years of managing parish operations, stewarding resources, and providing program assistance.
When he’s not in the office, in the pulpit, or at Camp, Chris unwinds as an avid video gamer in flight sim, survival RPG, or a side quest. His playlists include bands like Bad Religion, All That Remains, Green Day, and Breaking Benjamin. Chris is also a devoted reader of everything from theology to sci-fi and enjoys crafting stories that deepen his understanding and his preaching alike.
Chris is ready to advise students with a practitioner’s heart, champion the program with authentic enthusiasm, and manage its operations with meticulous care. He is prepared to serve students and the program’s strategic goals with effective leadership and a genuine commitment to formation.
