Assistant Professor, French Studies

Karine Beaudoin, PhD
I think of my classroom as a big dining table. Language is a tool to communicate and understand each other, and learning happens best via authentic and rich discussions.

Dr. Karine Beaudoin is passionate about fiction of all kinds. She specializes in children’s and young adult literature, with a focus on representations of social marginality. Her current research examines historical fiction as well as the work of Jocelyne Saucier, a contemporary Quebec writer whose novels take place in the northern regions of Quebec and Ontario.

Dr. Beaudoin has taught numerous French language and literature courses at Huron and other Canadian post-secondary institutions. When she is not on her bike commuting to work, you will find her with a book in her hands, unless they’re holding a piece of knitting or sewing.  She is also a painter when inspiration strikes.
