Huron is pleased to announce that its Management of Organizational Studies program has been accepted as a member of the Business School Association of Canada (BSAC).
“I’m very pleased we’ve been accepted because it clearly demonstrates the strength of our program and professionalism of our faculty,” says Dr. Bill Irwin, Chair and Associate Professor, MOS. “I think it’s going to help pique people’s interest in us,” he says.
Becoming a member of the BSAC is the gold seal of approval for the program as the BSAC is the association of university faculties and schools of business and management in Canada.
The year-long application submission included what Dr. Irwin terms a “mini-accreditation process.” A letter was submitted as well as report that included an overview of the program and resources, the professionalism of the faculty, and also answered such questions as what the program offers, and what it does.
Having a BSAC membership denotes the program is credible and adheres to the highest standards of excellence in education, says Dr. Irwin. Further, this accreditation expands Huron’s network in terms of new initiatives and programming regarding future relevancy of the business of education.
Huron’s MOS program will also now appear on the studybusinessincanada.ca website which is where both future students and future faculty will visit to learn more about studying and teaching business in Canada. “This is a very important addition for us,” Dr. Irwin says.
Next on the horizon for MOS is becoming an accredited member of the AACSB (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). The AACSB is an international organization which counts over 900 institutions from around the world as part of its membership. While that is a couple years in the future Dr. Irwin says this is the next natural step for MOS.
