Four Huron University students enrolled in Entrepreneurship are pleased to compete on the global stage at the Central European Case Competition, in Vienna, Austria.
London, ON – “Representing Huron and Canada on the global stage is an incredible honour,” explains Keaton Hamin. “This opportunity is a chance for all of us to showcase the ambition, creativity, and leadership that Huron is defined by. I’m proud to be bringing Huron and Canada’s values with me into the competition, and I hope we can make them both proud in how we prepare, think, and carry ourselves.”
Keaton Hamin will be joined by Jacob Brisebois, Cecilia Darling, and Jacob Bassam to represent Huron University and Canada at the Central European Case Competition in Vienna, Austria, November 9-14 2025. There, Huron students will be competing alongside top universities from around the world. The team is coached by Professor Alexander (AJ) Miller, who brings years of experience as a published case study author, instructor, and former competitor.
Meet Huron’s Central European Case Competition Team
Huron’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation faculty heard a need for competing on large scales from students. In response, they sent out an invitation to students enrolled in Entrepreneurship courses at Huron to submit a statement of interest, including a reference from a professor.
From there, Dr. Bazely and Professor Miller divided the students into two teams, and they presented their case study findings and pitched their ideas to the professors. Based on these presentations, they selected a team of four students based on their abilities to communicate an idea clearly, the depth and completeness of their analysis, confidence in their convictions, and their ability to handle questions.
The four students were selected following an intensive process that included a mini-case competition and presentations to faculty members. Those chosen demonstrated strong critical thinking, composure under pressure, and a collaborative spirit.

“Huron has a way of shaping students into confident leaders who are ready to take on real-world challenges,” she explains. “The support from professors has been invaluable, because they don’t just teach, they invest in our growth. Huron’s professors go beyond the classroom to challenge us to think critically, work collaboratively, and apply what we have learned in practical ways. Their guidance and encouragement have given us the confidence to represent Huron on an international stage.”
“I’m really looking forward to taking the lessons learned in the classroom and applying them to a real-world challenge on the global stage. Huron’s unique teaching style allows us to learn directly from real companies, whether in finance, corporate governance, or management. Professors go beyond the textbook to connect theory to real and pressing business issues, which makes our learning practical and engaging. We’re excited to apply these skills in the competition, and I believe this hands-on foundation will give us a leg up in Vienna.”

“I think the main thing that sets Huron students apart is our mindset. Coming from a smaller institution means we are used to actively making contributions in each of our classes, which has prepared us to think well on our feet. The tight-knit community at the school has allowed our team to build chemistry fast, something that gives us an edge going into the competition. We’re very excited to prove that Huron can compete anywhere, with anyone, and that we have the preparation, discipline, and innovation to back it up on the world stage.”
“The competition is difficult for a variety of reasons; however, our time at Huron has effectively prepared us for the challenges that arise under these circumstances. The collaborative team effort needed to be effective is something we are all used to doing, through the many projects we have worked on at Huron. We understand that by working together as a part of a whole instead of as individuals, we will get the most out of this experience and put together our best showing.”
Jacob Bassam (Honours BMOS with a Specialization in Marketing & Sustainability)

The teammates are gearing up for their upcoming experiential learning trip and competition.
The Central European Case Competition and Our Participants
The Central European Case Competition is more than just a competition, it is an opportunity for students to pivot, adapt, and embrace a new mindset. By experiencing different business contexts, they will see more of what the world has to offer and return with fresh perspectives that will strengthen our communities here, at Huron. This initiative is not only about raising awareness but about fostering leadership experiences where entrepreneurial thinking and the ability to shift focus are tested and applied.
“These types of experiences can forge students’ sense of confidence and really open their eyes to what’s possible. We are taking critical learning beyond the classroom, beyond our university campus, and placing students in a rich learning environment.” – Team Coach AJ Miller

“At Huron University, we are so lucky to have donors who share this vision and support our entrepreneurial programming who believe in the power of the entrepreneurial mindset. Their generosity enables us to provide world-class, high-impact experiences for our students, where they will learn and compete on the global stage.” – Dr. Matt Bazely, Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Huron University.
Representing Huron on the Global Stage
Our students look forward to showcasing the lessons and skills they have learned, while studying at Huron University. Huron doesn’t just shape its students for the workforce, it allows students to grow as critical thinkers and leaders. As our students prepare for their journey to Europe, they note that they have been well equipped by the faculty, staff, and community that make Huron the university it is.
