The International Presidential Scholarship (Full Tuition & Fees)

Deadline: February 1, 2025

Huron awards the International Presidential Scholarships annually to deserving international students. This merit-based scholarship is one of Canada’s most prestigious scholarships for international students and covers the full cost of international tuition and ancillary fees, renewable for all four years of your studies at Huron (a total value of $92,000 to $116,000 over four years depending on your program) subject to renewal terms and conditions. This scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarships at Huron.

Huron’s emphasis on developing Leaders with Heart means that we care about your heart as much as your mind. We attract students who are drawn to service and determined to use their academic and career success to positively impact global society and take on the world’s most important challenges. Therefore, these scholarships are quite holistic in nature and look far beyond your grades alone: it is assessed on a combination of three main components in the application process:

Academics: A minimum predicted or mid-year average of 90% in your current most senior year of high school. If you’re at an IB Diploma school, you’ll need a minimum predicted score of 35 IBDP points or higher (including bonus points for EE & TOK). If you’re currently pursuing A-Levels or AS-levels, you’ll need predicted scores of A or A* across all subjects.

Extracurricular: In the application, you can describe between 1 to 5 of your most notable extra-curricular, leadership or community service achievements from the past four years. These can be achievements within your school or even those in your community outside of school.

Statement of Purpose: You will also be asked to submit a Statement of Purpose led by a series of guiding questions in the application itself. This statement highlight challenges you have overcome, your long-term aspirations, and your intended contribution to the Huron community.

School Nomination: Your school counsellor will also be required to complete a Letter of Recommendation (LOR) to formally nominate you for this scholarship and give the Scholarship Committee a greater insight into the kind of student and leader that you are.

How to Apply:

Step 1

Submit your application to a Huron Program.

Step 2

Log in to your Huron Connect Portal account, click on the “Scholarships” section and complete the International Presidential Scholarship Application Form before February 1, 2025.

Your recommender will then receive an email from Huron with instructions to submit their nomination and letter of recommendation (LOR). This must be received by Huron before February 1, 2025.

Step 4

Short-listed candidates will be invited to take part in a video interview, as part of the Scholarship application assessment. You will receive an email with further details on this process, if you are short-listed.

Step 5

Recipients of the International Presidential Scholarship will be notified in March 2025.

The Huron International Financial Aid Form – HIFAF (5% to 50% of Tuition)

Huron is proud to be one of the only universities in Canada to offer international students aid on the basis of financial need, rather than just merit alone. We believe the transformative, world-class education at Huron should be accessible to all students who possess the potential and talent to meet our admission standards, while minimizing financial barriers to deserving students as much as possible.

The Huron International Financial Aid Form (HIFAF) is designed for students who are still facing challenges in affording a Huron education, despite any International Entrance Scholarship which they may have received. It allows students who can demonstrate this financial need, to be considered for additional financial aid by submitting the HIFAF application and supporting documents.

The amount of financial aid that can be granted to a student ranges from 5% of tuition fees annually to an absolute maximum of 50% of tuition fees annually, renewable for all four years of your studies at Huron. The final amount of financial aid granted is based entirely on Huron’s assessment of your application and the sole discretion of the Scholarship Committee.

Please note, any amounts granted based on your HIFAF application cannot be combined with the International Presidential Scholarship, if you are selected. The maximum amount of scholarships or financial aid granted for students who submit both applications, would still be 50% of tuition fees. Students will be responsible for all remaining tuition, ancillary and residence/meal plan fees.

If you are facing challenges affording your Huron education, despite any International Entrance Scholarship which you have already been granted, then we encourage you to complete and submit the Huron International Financial Aid Form (HIFAF). During this application, you will also be required to upload the following supporting documents:

  • Detailed, latest Income Tax returns
  • Latest payslips from guardian(s)’ employer(s)
  • Bank statements from July 1, 2024 until now, including statements of bank savings, fixed deposits, as well as other investments (e.g. market value of shares/bonds/mutual funds) held at your respective bank(s)/institution(s). If you and/or your guardians have multiple bank accounts, you must disclose statements from all bank accounts.

How to Apply:

Step 1

Submit your application to a Huron program.

Step 2

Log in to your Huron Connect Portal, click on “HIFAF” to complete the application and upload all required supporting documents.

Step 3

Recipients of any financial aid will be notified via email with granted amounts stated on their Letter of Acceptance.

Earn While You Learn

Many of our international students finance their education with part-time jobs, both on and off campus. Ontario has one of the highest minimum wages in Canada at $17.20 per hour. As a true ‘university city’, London has plenty of job opportunities for students. International students can work off-campus up to 20 hours per week during the school year and full-time hours in the summer. There is no fixed limit of hours for part-time work on campus too! Huron’s unique offering of guaranteed paid internships means that all Huron students have access to a consistent source of income, while also gaining 4 to 16 months of valuable paid work experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the key deadlines for scholarships and when should I submit my application(s) for scholarships?

Deadlines vary per scholarship. You can refer to this page for a full list of scholarships and relevant deadlines.

We highly recommend submitting your application as early as possible before the deadline of any scholarship you are applying to and to avoid submitting your application too close to the deadline. This ensures you have adequate time to collect and submit any supplemental documents or recommendations required or address any missing components of your application – remember, your application is not considered complete until all required components of the application, whether from yourself as the applicant or your recommender, are submitted to Huron. Applications submitted with any missing components will not be considered. In order to keep the assessment process fair and equitable for all applicants, applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

What is the maximum amount of financial aid I can receive through the Huron International Financial Aid Form (HIFAF) program?

The amount of financial aid that can be granted to a student ranges from 5% of tuition fees annually to an absolute maximum of 50% of tuition fees annually, renewable for all four years of your studies at Huron. The final amount of financial aid granted is based entirely on Huron’s assessment of your application and the sole discretion of the Scholarship Committee.

The HIFAF program is designed for students who are facing challenges affording their Huron education, despite any International Entrance Scholarship which they have already been granted. For example: if a student receives $10,000 per year (or any other amount) in International Entrance Scholarship, but still cannot afford their Huron education, they can apply through the HIFAF program to be considered for further financial aid (in addition to the $10,000 per year already granted) up to a total combined maximum of 50% of tuition.

Please note, students who successfully receive the International Presidential Scholarship (worth 50% tuition) will receive that scholarship only, and cannot combine the International Presidential Scholarship with HIFAF. This is because The International Presidential Scholarship amount is equivalent to the maximum amount of aid that can be granted through the HIFAF program.

Will applying to the Huron International Financial Aid Form (HIFAF) program lower my chances of receiving admission to Huron?

No. The admission process to a Huron program and the assessment of your HIFAF application are two completely unrelated processes. You can begin your application to a Huron program as early as September 2024 and await your admission decision, to see what (if any) International Entrance Scholarships you are eligible. You can then apply to the HIFAF program anytime, as along as the application and all required supporting documents are submitted.
