Incoming students can rank their room-type and residence preferences, and we do our best to accommodate them. Huron University is committed to supporting our students through a wide range of financial aid opportunities. We recognize that education is a significant investment, and we work with you to ensure financial barriers do not stand in the way of your academic goals.
Below are the financial aid programs available to incoming and current students.
At Huron, we proudly celebrate the achievements of our students and are committed to rewarding academic excellence and community service. We set our bar high because we know you do too. Thanks to the generosity of our alumni and donors, all eligible students receive a guaranteed admission scholarship. At the time of admission, students are notified of the scholarships they may qualify for. Once the offer of admission is finalized, the Admissions Office confirms the scholarship and applies it to the second tuition installment.
Huron offers needs-based bursaries and awards to help bridge the gap between education costs and the financial aid students may qualify for. Like scholarships, these funds are non-repayable and help to cover education-related expenses such as tuition, books and living costs. Decisions for financial aid are made through the Financial Aid Office.
These bursaries support incoming students who plan to live in residence. Students applying for provincial financial aid (i.e. OSAP) or international students approved for financial aid are eligible to apply.
Bursaries and needs-based awards are based on student financial need rather than academic merit. These funds help offset tuition and living expenses. Unlike loans, bursaries and needs-based awards do not need to be repaid. Applications open in early September and will be accessible via the Huron Connect portal.
Ancillary fees are non-tuition fees that support programs and services that enhance the student experience beyond the classroom. At Huron, these fees help fund resources such as health and wellness services, academic and career supports, student spaces, campus safety, and student life programming. Students are encouraged to check their statements regularly for any updates.
Residence applications open beginning January 19th, 2026 at 12PM (EST).
Huron’s residence is for students enrolling at Huron directly from high school who submit a residence application on or before their assigned deadline, May 6, 2026 at noon for applicants not currently enrolled in an Ontario high school and, June 4, 2026 a noon for applicants currently enrolled in an Ontario high school.
Huron University enjoys an affiliation with Western University. Students who attend Huron not only benefit from Huron’s small class sizes, close-knit academic community, personalized mentorship, and guaranteed paid internship opportunities, they can access broader academic programs, services, facilities, and student opportunities available across both campuses, and graduate with a Western degree.
Residence fees vary by building and room type. Additional factors also include room size, level of privacy, amenities, and occupancy type. Offering different room styles allows students to choose the residence option that best fits their preferences and budget. The Huron Residence Bursary supports students who wish to live in Burnlea Hall, helping make this residence option more accessible. Please note that residence placement is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.
Huron Residence & Dining Hall Bursaries will start to be awarded in late April.
Applications for current student bursaries open in September and close at the end of October. Students will receive their application decision in November.
Incoming students will be billed in early June.
The first installment for tuition, fees, and residence (if applicable) is August 4, 2026. The second installment is due December 1, 2026.
Students who have applied for OSAP or other provincial financial aid will have payment sent directly to Huron University, and the payment deadline will be accommodated based on the timing of the release of funds.
