Pop-Up Exhibition: Music of Memory, Music of Mourning: The Gustav Mahler – Alfred Rosé Collection and Reflections on a Lost World

Huron University will host a pop-up exhibition from The Gustav Mahler-Alfred Rosé Collection, one of the largest surviving bodies of primary source material of the life and times of composer/conductor Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) and his brother-in-law, violinist Arnold Rosé (1863-1946).

Material from this collection will be exhibited between Wednesday, October 30th and Wednesday November 6th in the foyer of Huron University’s Frank Holmes Centre.

Curated by Brian McMillan (Director of the Music Library, Western University) and Amanda Jamieson (Archivist – Arts and Built Heritage Archives and Special Collections, Western University), this exhibition will allow visitors to closely explore the lives of Gustav Mahler, members of the musical Rosé family (Arnold, Alfred and Alma), and a world almost lost to antisemitism less than a century ago.

Visitors are free to visit Monday through Friday – 8:30 AM to 9:30 PM and Saturday and Sunday – 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
