History Now! Speaker Series

History Now! Speaker Series is a new partnership between Museum London, the Community History Centre and Huron University. Join us Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the Great Hall at Huron University for the first in the series – What’s in a name? Huron’s, Western’s and London’s to Huron-Wendat Histories presented by Professor Thomas Peace, Associate Professor and Chair, Department of History and Co-director, Huron Community History Centre, Huron University.

The name Huron is ubiquitous in southwestern Ontario. Is it because of our proximity to Lake Huron or are there other reasons more related to the Huron-Wendat Confederacy? This presentation answers this question by tracing the ways in which folks at Huron University, Western University, and in London have engaged with Huron-Wendat history, material culture, and historic sites over the course of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

The event is finished.
