Headstart 2022 – Department Specific Study Sessions – BMOS, Political Science, GLE, CGS, Global Great Books, English, French, and Religion& Theology
Have you left your assignments and midterm studying to the last minute? Are you worried that your Reading Week will be spent catching up on loads of schoolwork? Huron has a solution for you! Come on out to our Headstart program happening in the Great Hall & Library Learning Commons on October 17th-21st.
Headstart is an academic initiative to help you get back on track with your studies and assignments. Please below for the schedule of events. From targeted study groups, to tutors, to late night library hours, Headstart has everything you need to get a ‘head start’ on your work!
Monday October 17th – 7pm-1am: Study Sessions in the Great Hall for those in BMOS, Political Science, GLE, CGS, Global Great Books, English, French, and Religion& Theology
Tuesday October 18th – 7pm-1am: Study Sessions in the Great Hall for those in BMOS, Psychology, Philosophy, History, Chinese/Japanese and East Asian Studies
During these days there will be free tables for those that want to study in general for their respective classes.
Wednesday October 19th – 1pm-2pm: Cultivating Healthy Habits, a goal setting, time management, motivation and productivity workshop facilitated by Wellness and Library & Learning Services
Wednesday October 19th – 5pm – 9pm: Business 1220 Tutoring Sessions: from 5pm-6pm & 8pm-9pm, the sessions will be delivered tutorial style, reviewing important information studied in class, 6pm-7pm & 8pm-9pm, the sessions will be drop-in style to answer questions with the business tutors.
Thursday October 20th – 5pm – 9pm: Business 1220 Tutoring Sessions: from 5pm-6pm & 8pm-9pm, the sessions will be delivered tutorial style, reviewing important information studied in class, 6pm-7pm & 8pm-9pm, the sessions will be drop-in style to answer questions with the business tutors.
Late Night Library Hours Begin! The Library will be open until 11pm.
Friday October 21st – Late Night Library Hours Continue, the library will be open until 11pm.
Snacks will be provided at all study sessions, tutoring sessions, and within the library!
By participating in Headstart you will get ahead of your schoolwork, get to enjoy your reading week and take a much-deserved break! Please see the attached poster for more details.

Susan Farrow is an Assistant Professor in The Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and a Founding Partner and Co-Director of The Toronto Institute of Group Studies, an organization offering certified training and education in group leadership.
Frank Holmes is CEO and Chief Investment Officer of U.S. Global Investors, as well as a business commentator, philanthropist and Huron Class of ‘78 alumnus. Holmes also serves as the Executive Chairman of HIVE Blockchain Technologies, the first cryptocurrency mining company to go public in 2017.
Kelly Meighen is an experienced philanthropist and volunteer. In her role as president of the T.R. Meighen Family Foundation, she has created a legacy of volunteerism and philanthropic giving in the areas of youth mental health advocacy, environmental conservation and cultural vibrancy.
Ranjita is Executive Chair of the Oxford Global Partnership, advising investors, businesses, family offices and entrepreneurs on sustainable, inclusive and responsible value creation. A Business Fellow at Oxford University’s Smith School, Ranjita engages with companies on pursuing value with values, and teaches a postgraduate “Essentials of ESG & DEI” course.
Caleb Hayhoe is the Founder & Chairman of Flowerdale Group and a Huron Class of ’85 Alumnus. Flowerdale Group is a Hong Kong based family office with a global investment outlook across public markets, real estate and private investment. Hayhoe previously spent over ten years building a global sourcing business together with an exceptional team, and remains committed to entrepreneurialism and helping great ideas become sustainable companies.
