Chaplaincy at Huron

Whether you’re looking for spiritual and emotional support – or you just want someone to talk to – discover a non-judgmental, inclusive friend and counsellor in Huron’s Chaplain.

Rev. Matthew Martin, Chaplain

Our Chaplain, the Rev. Matthew Martin, is here to promote emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. When you visit him in the Chapel, you will find a safe space and non-judgmental, compassionate listener, who has countless years of experience supporting students along their educational journey. Regardless of whether you are a spiritual or religious person, you are still welcome to seek refuge in the Chaplain’s office, so don’t be shy and find yourself, yet another, empathetic ally on campus.

The chaplaincy team provides pastoral care and support to the students, staff, and faculty at Huron University.

At the heart of chaplaincy is the desire to support students not only in their academic journey but also in their spiritual and personal wellbeing. Those who wish to connect, ask questions, or simply have a conversation are always welcome to reach out.

Office Hours (Office: A 218): Thursdays, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM (on campus)

Prayer Room (A 108)

The Prayer Room at Huron is located just down the hall from St. John’s Chapel (room A 108). It is a quiet space dedicated to prayer, reflection, and moments of stillness in the midst of university life. It offers students, staff, and faculty a place to pause, to turn inward, and to reconnect with their faith, values, and sense of meaning.

While the room is primarily used by Muslim students for their daily prayers, it remains open to all members of the Huron community who are seeking a respectful and peaceful space for prayer, meditation, or quiet reflection.

Please Note: There is a shoe rack in the hall beside the Prayer Room door to leave footwear before entering.
